Who We Are

The Friends of the Garden is the 501 (c) 3 nonprofit organization that supports the Springfield Botanical Gardens at Nathanael Greene/Close Memorial Park. A special facility of the Springfield-Greene County Park Board.

What We Do

We create and maintain ornamental gardens, horticultural plant collections, home demonstration plantings, historical and cultural planting demonstrations within the Japanese Garden, Gray/Campbell Farmstead, Roston Native Butterfly House and the collective, 112-acre Nathanael Greene/Close Memorial Park. It is situated adjacent to an industrial park and South Creek, a part of the Watershed for the Ozarks region. Work within the park and gardens has had positive impacts on storm water management; invasive species management and quality of life for the citizens.
