Description

The Fairbanks Community Hub sits on a property originally developed as a public school in 1906. Today, the site includes both indoor facilities and outdoor spaces that support activities such as community gardening, educational programs, and other neighborhood initiatives. The Drew Lewis Foundation (DLF) has led the transformation of this historic site into a vibrant community center, providing resources and support to residents of the Grant Beach neighborhood and beyond.

Given the size of the property and the age of the building, the DLF team regularly seeks volunteers to help keep the site looking its best. Volunteer tasks will include trash pickup, brush removal, mulch cleanup and relocation, indoor cleaning and maintenance (in collaboration with BASE SPS students), organizing boxes of produce that are donated each week for our clients, and setting up tables for the weekly community dinner. Specifically, we are needing help painting the walls of an outdoor courtyard area, repairing and painting a wooden planter/seating area in the front of the building, demolition and removal of two concrete planters, and mulch relocation.
