Description

American Red Cross services for veterans date back to World War I and remains consistent with the spirit of our mission. Today, the Red Cross is proud to maintain our commitment to the men and women who have served in the U.S. Armed Forces.

Please join us in serving our community heroes by providing recreation therapy supplies and comfort items that improve the quality of life and wellness for local veterans. The desired items will be distributed to local veterans' facilities.

Below is a sample list of items that are needed and could be collected by Day of Caring participants through a supply drive.

Recreation Therapy supplies:

  • Colored pencils (small packs)
  • Apple music gift cards
  • Puzzle books
  • Adult coloring books
  • Paint sets (small sets)
  • Simple wood painting kits (birdhouse)
  • Small containers of Play-Doh
  • Simple model kits
  • Puzzles up to 500 pieces

Personal Items:

  • Toothbrush/Toothpaste
  • Shaving cream/Disposable razors
  • Shampoo
  • Bar soap
  • Deodorant
  • Packets of tissues
  • Socks, undershirts, underwear (must be new, men’s and women's)

All items can be picked up at your location or a time can be arranged to have the supplies dropped off at the Red Cross office.

A: By helping to provide Recreation Therapy items for local veterans, Day of Caring volunteers will help the Red Cross to provide vital services to the men and women who answered their country’s call and who are now cared for each day in VA medical centers and State Veterans' Homes.
