Description

When Red Cross volunteers respond to those who have lost everything in a home fire, storm, or flood we provide the children with a items to comfort them and a few special gifts.

Can your organization help us replenish our supply of children's Comfort Kits?

Help bring comfort to children in our community, maybe even a child you know, following a disaster. It's simple, just collect items to create a child's “Comfort Kit,” and Red Cross will provide the bags that your team can use to put the kits together. These kits will help to provide the basic necessities and bring a smile to the face of a child following a disaster.

Below is a list of needed supplies and all can be purchased in smaller sizes:

  • Children’s toothbrush
  • Children’s toothpaste
  • Children’s Shampoo/Conditioner (2-in-1)
  • Children’s Body Wash
  • Hairbrush/comb
  • Washcloth
  • Coloring book
  • Crayons (small box)
  • Stuffed animal (small)

**Please do not send hotel sizes.

Kits and other items can be picked up at your location or a time can be arranged to have the supplies dropped off at the Red Cross office.

Get Connected Icon Q: How do Day of Caring volunteers make a difference?
A: Imagine having just escaped a home fire, flood or other disaster, emotions are high. When a family is forced to stay in a hotel, shelter, or even with someone they know, children are left without the familiar comforts of home. For children this experience can be particularly stressful. The Comfort Kits that are built by Day of Caring volunteers bring joy and help to take a child's mind off this difficult situation. Imagine getting your own toothbrush, coloring book or small toy when everything else may have been lost. These items provide a bit of normalcy and bring a smile to a child’s weary face.
Get Connected Icon Q: Will your project benefit from having a pass to the Yard Waste Recycling Center?
