Who We Are

Maple Park Cemetery is a historic not-for-profit cemetery in the heart of the city. There is an on-site office where visitors can receive help with finding burial locations, purchasing grave spaces, or answering any questions about the cemetery. The Cemetery Superintendent takes care of the day-to-day operations, and an unpaid Board of Directors oversees the superintendent.

What We Do

As a not-for-profit cemetery nearly 150 years old, we have a unique role in the community. We provide burial spaces to families that have lost their loved ones, preserve the history of those buried here, educate the community about those buried here or connected to those buried here, and provide a green space to the community.

We act as a type of archive with the records of people buried here, particularly those buried before death certificates were required. We regularly help families working on their genealogy and help them to find records of their ancestors.

We work very hard to maintain a beautiful cemetery where people love to visit their loved ones but also the general community can use as well. Maintenance of a cemetery this size is a monumental task. We take pride in keeping the cemetery beautiful while preserving the history.

To help offset many of our extra costs we occasionally host fundraisers with an emphasis on history. We have had dinner at the cemetery with a history program, hay rides with actors portraying individuals buried here, and music concerts. We try to have a fun event with educational or historical preservation portion of the event.
