Who We Are

We are Springfield Community Gardens, and out mission is to create gardens that strengthen neighborhoods where people can grow healthy relationships, food and community. Our volunteers are at the heart of what we do. Since 2010, thousands of community garden volunteers have helped to create the infrastructure necessary for the growing community garden movement and have served Springfield Community Gardens in many ways: serving as part-time garden organizers and administrators, teaching cooking and gardening classes, constructing garden beds, and harvesting and delivering produce.

What We Do

The primary mission of Springfield Community Gardens is to create a community where everyone has access to healthy, local food. Working together, hand in soiled hand, our roots have spread far and wide, helping to serve others, grow fresh food and enrich our community. We have 16 community gardens, 3 urban farms, a community food forest, and test kitchen throughout the city of Springfield, MO. We serve as a Farm Incubator, providing new farmers with resources, connections to land, networks and one-on-one training to help their farms thrive. We operate two produce distributions, our gardens partner with with Ozarks Food Harvest to put fresh produce in the hands of local families.
